Intro

tech x copper is a new experimental music project by Icelandic composer Leifur Björns and drummer Sólrún, in collaboration with UK electronic pioneer Howie B.
This is a preview of their upcoming debut, a hybrid of percussion, modular synthesis, ambient texture and distorted songcraft.

About This Project

tech x copper is an experimental collaboration exploring rhythm, memory, and fractured experience. After years of touring and recording with other acts, Leifur returns with a deeply personal sonic excavation.. built from unfinished ideas, voice notes, and analog synth experiments collected over time.Together with drummer and sound artist Sólrún, and co-produced with Howie B, this project is about shaping instinctive textures into form.. somewhere between structure and drift.

“Digging through old hard drives, some ideas began taking on new forms and new meaning, shifting from fragments into something new. Sounds from the past started framing a moment in time. The debut EP includes contributions from Ásta Fanney (vocals) and marks a new phase for Leifur and Sólrún as collaborators in instinctive, analog-rooted electronic composition.”

Leifur Björns

Leifur Björns is an Icelandic experimental electronic composer, producer and songwriter. He has worked with artists such as Klemens Hannigan, Low Roar, and Cheek Mountain Thief.

Born in the UK and raised in Iceland, Leifur is a multi-instrumentalist who grew up playing in local punk and rock bands. His first international collaboration was the concept album Cheek Mountain Thief with Tunng’s Mike Lindsay, released on the UK indie label Full Time Hobby.

Later, while working with Lindsay on a Low Roar record, Leifur joined the band and toured extensively across Europe and the US, sharing stages with Ásgeir, Active Child, and Hozier, and recording with Grammy-winning producer Andrew Scheps in Los Angeles.

His music has since appeared in projects like Death Stranding (Kojima Productions), advertising campaigns for Allstate, and on ABC and MTV. More recently, Leifur has been focused on composition and production whilst based in Iceland.

With tech x copper, Leifur steps into new terrain — raw, textural, instinct-driven — blending analog memory with present intuition, in close collaboration with Sólrún and Howie B.
